The library lamps flickered once, twice, then died. "Not again," groaned فاطمة, wearing her teal zip-up hoodie with the lightning-bolt patch, staring at the dark reading corner. Every afternoon, kids curled up here with books — but without light, the cozy nook looked gray and sad. "There has to be a way to fix this," she whispered, clutching her clipboard.
"The wires are fine," said Mr. Alonzo, tapping the wall with a wrench, his face turned partly away as he worked. "Problem is, this old building just doesn't make enough power for everything." فاطمة, her teal hoodie bright in the hallway light, frowned as running feet thundered past. "Wait," she said slowly. "What if THAT could help?"
That night, فاطمة sprawled on her bedroom floor with library books about energy, still in her teal hoodie. One page stopped her cold: crystals that make electricity when you squeeze them. "Piezoelectric," she read aloud, tracing the word with her finger. "Pressure makes power. Footsteps are pressure! Squeeze and spark!"
