Ezra and the Greenhouse Comet
Ages 6–8
Using a clever array of mirrors and prisms, Ezra captures the rare light of a passing comet to nourish a frost-covered greenhouse garden.
Children learn that persistence and creative engineering can turn a distant, fleeting challenge into a source of life and growth.

Ezra lived in a house where the garden was always chilly. The plants in the greenhouse were drooping because the winter sun stayed behind the clouds. Ezra looked at his drooping ferns and sighed. We need more light, Ezra whispered to the leaves.
The radio buzzed with news. A bright comet was passing by that very night. It would shine with a strange, silvery glow. Ezra grabbed his notebook and a handful of mirrors. Light is just a traveler, Ezra thought. I can help it find its way home.
First, Ezra built a tall tripod near the garden gate. He attached a mirror that could tilt and turn. He wanted to catch the comet's light before it zoomed away. Ezra checked the angle twice, making sure his hands were steady.
