Finn and the New Kid in Class

Ages 5–8

When a quiet new classmate sits alone, Finn discovers that a crayon, a drawing and a grin need no words at all to say "let's be friends."

Kindness doesn't need the right words — a shared game, a smile, and patience can turn a stranger into a friend.

Monday morning, a new chair appeared beside the puzzle rug. In it sat Mika — quiet, eyes down — while everyone else chattered about weekends and worm hunts and wobbly bike rides.

Finn noticed. His tin of crayons rattled in his pocket like it had an idea already. "New kid, new friend," he whispered, tapping the lid three times for luck.

"Hi! I'm Finn!" he said, sliding into the empty chair. Mika looked up and tried a careful word: "...Hello." It came out soft and wobbly, and Mika's cheeks turned pink.
