Sami's Trip Around the Sun

Ages 5–8

In a paper rocket with a comet for a co-pilot, Sami sets out to collect one true wonder from each planet on his star-map scroll — but the biggest wonder of all is waiting back home.

Children will remember the order of five planets and one true fact about each, plus the wonder that only Earth has oceans of water.

Zip! A paper rocket sat on the lawn, folded and ready. "Climb in, Sami!" called a fizzy voice. It was Miro the comet. "Let's visit five planets and fill your star-map with wonders!" Sami grabbed the scroll and hopped aboard.

Whoosh! Up through the clouds and past the moon they flew. Sami pressed his face to the round window, telescope ready. "First stop: golden Venus!" said Miro. Around the sun we go — what will we find below?

Venus glowed gold, wrapped in thick swirling clouds. "Hottest planet of all!" said Miro, fanning himself. "Even hotter than the planet nearest the sun, because these clouds trap the heat like a cozy, cozy blanket."
