Lin's Night Before Christmas Morning
Ages 2–8
On the night before Christmas, Lin can't fall asleep until she makes a secret gift for someone who might be lonely, and wakes to snow and a thank-you note that means more than any present.
Giving a gift can feel even warmer than getting one.

Snow fell soft on the sleepy lane. Every house was dark and still — except one small window, glowing warm, where Lin lay wide, wide awake. Not one wink.
Tiptoe, tiptoe, down the hall, in her red sweater and striped socks. The little bell on her wrist gave a tiny jingle-jing. Pip the mouse peeked from behind the fireplace.
The tree stood tall and twinkling, round and gold as little moons. Lin hugged her knees, watching the lights, wondering what she could not sleep for.
