Theo and the Festival of Lights

Ages 3–8

On the night of the Festival of Lights, Theo paints a rainbow rangoli, races the falling dark to light tiny clay diyas with Grandma, and shares sweets until the whole street glows like a river of stars.

Children see that light, kindness, and togetherness grow brighter the more they are shared with family and neighbors.

Diwali was coming! Theo bounced by the door with a basket of colored powders. "Time to make it beautiful," said Grandma Nani. Glow, glow, let's make it glow!

Pinch by pinch, Theo sprinkled yellow powder into a swirling ring. "Only a little sun left," he said, working fast. Glow, glow, let's make it glow!

Bittu sneezed - poof! - and orange powder puffed everywhere, smudging the pretty spiral. "Oh no!" gasped Theo. But he laughed, patted it smooth, and started the petal again. Glow, glow, let's make it glow!
