Eli's Secret Plan for the Biggest Hero

Ages 3–8

Eli hatches a top-secret plan to make the biggest hero he knows feel loved: a wobbly breakfast, a heartfelt card, and a shining medal for everything that hero does.

A simple, handmade thank-you can be the best gift a child gives the parent he loves.

Before the sun even rubbed its eyes, Eli tiptoed out of bed, hero apron already buttoned on — Rule Number One: a hero never takes it off! "Today's the day, Biscuit," he whispered. "Operation Hero Plan begins now! Shh... it's a secret!"

Inside the box: a crayon, a ribbon, and one shiny gold paper circle. "This will be the best medal ever," said Eli, eyes wide with a wobble of worry, "if I can get it just right. It has to be good enough for the biggest hero I know."

Step one: breakfast! With a steady hand from just off-frame holding the stool, Eli cracked an egg — SPLAT! — right on the counter. Biscuit licked his lips. "That's okay," said Eli. "Heroes clean up messes too. Shh... it's a secret!"
