Jayden and the Wide-Open Gate

Ages 3–5

Jayden races toward the swings every single day, until one afternoon he stops to hold the heavy park gate open for a struggling little one — and learns that a small pause can feel like the biggest adventure of all.

Children learn that pausing to notice and help someone else feels just as wonderful as reaching their own goal — a gentle lesson in patience, awareness, and everyday kindness.

Every day after lunch, Jayden zoomed down the pebbled path like a rocket with sneakers. Swish-swoosh went his sneakers. The swings were waiting, and Jayden could NOT wait either!

Swish-swoosh, swish-swoosh! Nothing ever stopped Jayden. Not the wobbly squirrel. Not the buzzing bee. He had one job: reach that swing before anyone else!

But today the big green gate stood still. Little Nia in her sunny hat pushed and pushed, but the heavy gate would not budge. Her rabbit slipped from her arms!
