Diego's Bedtime Gratitude Jar

Ages 3–5

On a day that felt grumpy and gray, Diego can't think of a single good thing — until the little jar of pebbles helps him find three good things anyway, one shiny plink at a time.

A simple nightly gratitude ritual gives children a tool to shift a grumpy mood and settle calmly into sleep.

The lamp glows low in his moss-green pajamas and warm bedroom. But today felt bumpy — spilled milk, a lost toy — and Diego flops onto the quilt with a grumpy little sigh.

"I can't think of ANY good thing," Diego mumbles, kicking the quilt. Biscuit nudges the little bowl of pebbles closer, as if to say: let's look together, one small stone at a time.

Diego picks up one pebble. Plink! One good thing. "The swings," he whispers, remembering legs kicking high, wind rushing past his cheeks. A tiny smile sneaks onto his face.
