Ruby and the Magic Scent of Lavender Soap

Ages 3–5

After the market's clatter fills her ears too full, Ruby discovers two small tools — slick lavender bubbles and steady roots underfoot — that wash and root the wobbly feeling away.

Children learn two simple, repeatable tools — soothing scent-and-touch with soap, and grounding through imagined roots underfoot — to calm big feelings after overwhelming moments.

The market buzzed and clanged — carts squeaked, a bell went DING! Ruby pressed both hands to her ears. Mama was right there, holding her basket, watching her face. Too loud, too loud today.

Mama knelt right down and took her hand. "Let's go home," she said. "We'll find your quiet place together." Ruby squeezed her fingers tight and nodded.

Home again! The kitchen smelled like toast and sunshine. Ruby's ears still buzzed, like a bee stuck in a jar. "Mama," she said, "my ears feel funny. Can we wash it away?"
