Chloe's Welcome Daisies

Ages 3–5

When a moving truck arrives next door, Chloe picks the sunniest daisies from her yard and, holding Mom's hand the whole way, carries them across the lawn to say hello in the warmest way she knows.

Children learn that a small act of hospitality — like sharing flowers with a smile, even when it feels a little scary — can turn a stranger into a friend.

A big truck rumbles up the street, huffing and puffing to a stop. Chloe peeks through the window. "Someone new!" she says. "Hello, hello!" she whispers, wondering who it could be.

"Let's go see, my curious one," says Mom, taking her hand. Down the porch steps they go, hand in hand — "Hello, hello!" Chloe sings to the sunny path.

Chloe stops by the daisy patch, bright and yellow as the sun. "These will say hello," she whispers, choosing the prettiest ones for her basket — but her tummy feels a little fluttery too.
