Amara's Own Best Hug

Ages 3–5

When a busy phone call makes Amara feel forgotten, she discovers a warm secret superpower: a hug she can give herself until the biggest, realest hug of all comes home.

Children learn a simple, calming self-hug for moments of waiting, while seeing that reconnecting with a caregiver afterward is the warm, expected ending.

Amara zoomed in circles on the swirly rug, holding up a shiny blue block. "Look, look!" she sang, ready to show Mama the tallest tower ever built.

But Mama's phone buzzed loud and long. "One moment, little one," she said, turning gently away to talk in a soft, busy voice.

Amara's smile drooped like a wilting flower. Her tower toppled to the floor. "Mama's busy," she whispered, hugging Swirl Cushion close. Pip hopped nearer, head tilted, watching.
