Diego opens a backyard toy clinic for stuffed puppies and kittens, learning that the softest hands and the kindest words can soothe scraped paws and scared little hearts alike.

"Clinic's open!" he called, red stethoscope swinging. Every floppy-eared pup and whiskery kitten in the yard was ready for check-ups, hugs, and the gentlest hands around.

First in line was Biscuit, the floppy brown puppy with a torn ear and a poorly paw. "Let's take a look," said Diego, kneeling close. Gentle hands, he remembered. Gentle hands make everything better.

He pressed the little red stethoscope to Biscuit's chest. "Let's pretend your heart says thump-thump," he whispered. Gentle hands, gentle hands, that's how a good vet cares.
