Noah and the Clockwork Goblin

Ages 3–5

When a rusty, grumpy goblin blocks the garden bridge, Noah discovers that a squeaky, achy foe just needs a little kindness—and a drop of oil—to become a friend.

Children learn that grumpiness is often just hidden discomfort, and that gentle curiosity can turn a scary foe into a friend.

Noah, in his soft padded tunic of dusty-blue felt and rounded clay breastplate, marched to the garden gate, boots crunching on the mossy stone. Somewhere past the hedges, something went: Squeak, squeak — creaky old thing!

A hunched shape blocked the bridge. Two lantern eyes blinked open in the shadows. "NOBODY crosses my bridge!" it groaned. Squeak, squeak — creaky old thing!

Noah stepped closer, foam sword held low and calm at his side. Up close, the goblin looked small and dented, rusty knees knocking together. "Ouch," the goblin muttered. "Ouchie ouch."
