Arjun and the Garden Gnome's Lost Hat

Ages 3–5

When a tiny garden gnome's magic red hat snags in the raspberry bush, Arjun uses his favorite magnifying glass and gentle, patient fingers to set it free.

Children see that slowing down, looking closely, and helping small creatures in trouble is its own kind of magic.

In a garden of sunflowers, tall and bright, Arjun loved to spot small wonders in the light. One morning a tiny voice called, thin and small: "My hat! Oh no! My hat just fell!"

There stood Thistle, hatless and blue! Without his red hat, his garden magic was through. "My pointy hat makes my flowers grow strong," he sighed. "It's tangled somewhere. Where has it gone?"

"I'll help you look!" said Arjun with a grin. "I'm good at finding things — let's search and win!" He lifted his magnifying glass, the one he always wore, for spotting tiny beetles and ants down on the floor.
