Sofia's Starlight Socks
Ages 3–5
By a crackling hearth, Sofia worries the starlight yarn will run out before every shivering paw is warmed — until she finds a clever way to make it stretch to the very last sock.
Children see that small acts of care and clever giving can bring great comfort to those smaller and colder than themselves, even when resources feel scarce.

Snow tucked the forest in tight and white. Wind rattled the shutters, soft with night. Inside, by the fire, small and warm, sat Sofia, ready to knit through the storm.
Sofia scooped up starlight, silvery-thin. "I hope," she whispered, "there's enough to begin." The basket looked small. The night felt long. But her needles were ready to click their small song.
Click, click went the needles, quick and bright. Knit one, purl two, in the firelight. A tiny sock grew, striped silver and gold — the first little sock to fight off the cold.
