Leo and the Blueberry Pie Fingerprint Mystery

Ages 6–8

When the county fair's prize-winning blueberry pie vanishes right before judging, Leo dusts the display case for clues and follows one smudgy fingerprint all the way to a very hungry fair mascot.

Children learn the basics of fingerprint patterns (loops, whorls, arches) and how careful, patient observation solves problems better than guessing or blaming.

"The blue-ribbon pie is GONE!" gasped the fair judge, staring at an empty glass case. Crumbs on the doily. A smear on the glass. Leo dropped his caramel apple mid-bite. A mystery! "Nobody move," he said, snapping open his satchel. "This fair just became a crime scene!"

Nubia jogged up, green vest flapping, notebook already open. "Judging starts in one hour," she said. "If we don't find that pie, Old Mabel's blueberry recipe loses by default." Leo nodded slowly, crouching by the case. "Then let's find out who touched this glass last."

"Look here," Leo whispered, pointing to a faint greasy smudge on the glass. "Somebody's fingers left a mark, even if we can't see it yet." He pulled the cocoa powder tin from his satchel. "Time to make the invisible... visible. Loops, whorls, arches — here we come."
