Eli and the Secret Message in the Lemon Juice
Ages 6–8
When Eli's detective partner passes him a blank sheet of paper, he must figure out why it isn't really empty at all — and warm up the truth before the trail goes cold.
Kids learn a real science trick — that dried lemon juice turns brown with gentle heat — along with patience, careful observation, and asking a grown-up for help with anything hot.

"Special delivery!" Nell announced, sliding a folded paper through the tin mailbox slot. Eli unfolded it slowly, his freckled fingers careful on the creases. Blank. Totally blank. "That's it?" he asked. Nell grinned, adjusting her round glasses. "Look closer, Detective."
Back in the clubhouse, Eli held the paper up to the window. Nothing. No lines, no smudges, not even a fingerprint. "Maybe it really is blank," he muttered, frowning at the empty page.
Nell tapped the wooden clue box. "Last week's clue mentioned lemons, remember? Maybe this paper has a secret too." Eli's eyes lit up. "A hidden message... written in something we can't see!"
