Ravi and the Rose Maze Compass

Ages 6–8

When Ravi and two friends get lost inside a towering rose-hedge maze at the garden festival, he holds tight to his lucky compass and counts the turns his way to the fountain, keeping his friends calm with a plan instead of panic.

Kids learn that a simple, steady strategy -- careful counting, and a calm head -- can turn a scary problem into a solvable puzzle.

The garden festival buzzed with music and laughter, but the biggest attraction was the rose hedge maze -- taller than any grown-up, thick with leaves. "Race you to the fountain in the middle!" said Theo. Ravi grinned, gripping the little brass compass on its cord, and dashed through the entrance with Marisol and Theo close behind.

They turned left, then right, then left again, giggling at every twist. But soon the paths all looked the same -- green wall, green wall, green wall. "Wait," said Marisol, stopping short. "Which way did we just come from?" Nobody could remember. The laughter faded into silence.

Theo's lip wobbled. "We're lost. We're actually lost!" Marisol hugged her sun hat to her chest. Ravi felt his own heart thump -- loud, fast, scared. Then his fingers found the little compass on its cord, warm and solid. He took one slow breath.
