Lily and the Mystery of the Disappearing Ballet Slippers
Ages 6–8
When the prima ballerina's pink satin slippers vanish an hour before the recital, Lily must follow a trail of snagged silk fibers through a maze of costume racks before the curtain rises.
Kids learn that patient, systematic observation -- following small clues one step at a time, even after a wrong guess -- can solve a big, stressful problem calmly.

"Places in one hour!" called Mr. Feathertop, and the backstage hallway buzzed like a beehive. But Marisol burst out of the dressing room, eyes wide. "My slippers are gone! My pink satin slippers -- I can't dance without them!" Lily looked up from tying her boots. A mystery. Just her favorite thing.
"Don't worry," said Lily, pulling out her brass magnifying glass. "Every mystery leaves clues." She crouched by the dressing table where the slippers always sat. The spot was empty -- but something pink and shiny glinted on the table's edge. A single thread, thin as a whisper.
"A silk fiber!" Lily said. "From satin ribbon, just like your slippers." Marisol leaned in. "So where does it lead?" Lily followed the thread's direction with her eyes, out the dressing room door toward the tall shadowy shapes of the costume racks. "Only one way to find out. We follow it."
