Priya and the Case of the Honeycomb Spice

Ages 6–8

When Honeycomb Bakery's secret spice blend AND its recipe card both go missing the morning before the big gingerbread bake-off, Priya must use her sharp nose, a magnifying glass, and a little detective logic to sniff out three secret spices and track down the runaway recipe before the ovens go cold.

Kids learn that careful, patient observation — using smell to identify things and logic to solve a small mystery — can untangle even two mixed-up problems at once, and that surprises usually have a simple, ordinary explanation.

"Priya! The spice blend is GONE!" Nana Marge's voice cracked as she stared into the empty jar on the counter. The bake-off was tomorrow, and without the secret mix, there would be no gingerbread at all. Priya set down her mug of cocoa and tightened the little red bandana at her neck. "Don't worry, Nana Marge. Nose knows! I'll find out what happened."

Priya climbed onto the counter for a better look. The spice shelf stood almost bare — only a few lonely tins remained. "Something's missing, all right," she said, running a finger along the empty spaces. Biscuit barked once, tail wagging at the oven across the room, looking suspiciously pleased with himself.

"First clue: what's actually left?" Priya said, lining up three small jars on the counter. Cinnamon sticks, dried ginger root, and tiny green pods sat side by side — the very same three spices the blend needed! "These are the last pieces of the puzzle," she said. "Now I just have to prove it, one sniff at a time."
