Mei's Garden Mystery: The Case of the Missing Sparkly Pin
Ages 6–8
When Grandma's sparkly heirloom pin vanishes from the patio table, Mei and her faithful dog Pepper must prove a innocent magpie's innocence and track down the real, surprisingly simple explanation.
Kids learn to look for real evidence before jumping to blame, and pick up a fun true fact: magpies don't actually like shiny things - that's just a myth.

"Grandma's sparkly pin is gone!" gasped Mei, staring at the empty patio table where it had glittered just moments ago. Pepper barked twice, nose already twitching. "Time to find proof," said Mei, patting the brass magnifying glass around her neck. Where could it be?
One guest pointed up at the tall pine tree. "It must be that magpie! Everyone knows magpies love shiny things!" Mei frowned. "Do they, though? Let's find proof before we blame anyone," she said, and Pepper wagged in agreement.
Mei grabbed the binoculars from her detective bag. "First rule of detective work: watch before you decide," she said, lowering them just enough to peek over the top. Up in the pine branches, the magpie's nest sat quiet and still.
