Ruby and the Shadow on the Wall
Ages 6–8
When a mysterious trophy appears on Ruby's desk with only a shadow-photo clue, she must measure height, posture, and hairstyle silhouettes to figure out which kind friend left it.
Children practice observation, proportional reasoning, and gratitude by learning that careful looking helps us notice and appreciate the kindness of others.

Ruby pushed open the clubhouse door and stopped short. There, right in the middle of her desk, sat a small golden trophy shaped like a shooting star. No note. No name. "Who left this?" she whispered. "Shadows never lie," she always said. "Time to find out."
On the corkboard nearby hung a strange photograph: just a shadow on the wall, a head and shoulders, nothing more. "The camera only caught a silhouette," said Otto, adjusting his round glasses. "But shadows never lie about shape. Let's measure this one."
"First clue: height," said Ruby, holding the ruler beside the photo. "Look. The shadow-head lands right at the map pin." She tapped the spot. "Taller than me. Shorter than the shelf." She grinned. "Now let's check everyone!"
