Aisha's Midnight Bakery Mystery
Ages 6–8
When a tray of warm muffins turns up on the doorstep with no note, Aisha - who has been dreaming of a real mystery since moving to Chestnut Lane - grabs a round-dial thermometer to sniff out the secret baker and finally meet the neighbors.
Kids learn a gentle taste of science reasoning (warm means close, cold means far) alongside the safety habit of always checking with a grown-up before eating surprise food, while discovering the warmth of a friendly community.

She had been waiting all summer for a real mystery — ever since her family moved to Chestnut Lane and she hadn't met a single neighbor yet. Then, on the doorstep, she found a warm basket of muffins with steam curling up. No note. No name. "Baxter," she whispered, "warm means close by. Let's find out who!"
"Grown-ups first!" called Gran Nell from the kitchen. She carried the basket inside, and her careful hands lifted the checkered cloth to peek underneath. "Smells safe and sweet," she said, "but we always wait to taste until we know whose kitchen made them."
She remembered her thermometer, the one with the round dial and long metal probe. "If I check how warm the muffins are," she said, "I can figure out how close the baker lives!" Baxter tilted his head, as if agreeing completely.
