Maya's Trail Home
Ages 6–8
When a fallen tree hides the trail markers and fog rolls over the mountain, Maya must trust her map, her whistle, and her own calm heart to guide her family safely back down.
Children learn that in a scary, disorienting moment, stopping to think, using tools, and staying calm is more powerful than panic.

Maya loved hiking with her family — especially the part where she got to check the map. Today's trail wound up a pine mountain to a rocky overlook. "Stick close to the markers," called Grandpa Ren from up ahead, his stick tapping a yellow-painted post. Maya nodded, patting the map in her vest pocket.
Up and up they climbed. Milo sniffed at pinecones and wagged his tail. Grandpa Ren's whistled tune echoed off the rocks. Then — CRACK! — a huge fallen pine lay right across the trail, its roots torn from the ground. The next yellow marker post was nowhere to be seen.
They climbed over the log and kept going — but which way was the trail? Left toward the boulders, or right toward the trees? Nobody was quite sure anymore. Maya's tummy did a little flip-flop, and even Milo's ears drooped.
