Arjun and the Buzzing Secret
Ages 6–8
When Arjun wants to hear the secret hum of a beehive without ever disturbing the bees, he builds a clever Listener that turns tiny flickers of light into sound, and learns just how gentle real curiosity can be.
Children see that patient, careful curiosity, paired with the right tool and clear safety rules, lets us learn about nature without ever disturbing it.

Arjun pressed his nose almost to the glass window of the big striped beehive. Inside, bees hummed and danced, building their waxy city. "I wonder what they're saying," he whispered. "But if I get too close, I'll scare them." Careful. Curious. Quiet. Somewhere behind him, a robot beeped hopefully.
"Nana Rosa, how can I hear the bees without ever bothering them?" Arjun asked. A weathered hand set a wooden crate on the tool table. Inside sat a brass gadget with a blinking red light. "This little Listener," Nana Rosa said, "hears with light instead of ears."
"Think of a walkie-talkie, but with light," said Nana Rosa. "The glass jiggles like a tiny drum when the bees buzz. Our laser light bounces off that drum, and the Listener turns the bounce back into sound." Pip beeped, "Ti-ny drum!" Arjun grinned. "So we never even touch the hive!"
