Kofi and the Spinning Coin Maze
Ages 6–8
When Kofi visits a university lab full of blinking machines, a friendly robot named Blip shows him how a spinning coin keeps you guessing between two colors — and together they use real chance and clever thinking to crack a tricky maze.
Kids get a simple, accurate first taste of probability — heads, tails, or the moment of not-knowing while it spins — and see that noticing patterns, not luck alone, helps solve problems.

"Welcome to the lab, Kofi!" Blip's screen-eyes lit up as the big glass doors slid open. Machines hummed. Lights blinked in every color. "Today," Blip said, "we're going to play a spinning coin game. Ready to find out what chance really means?" Kofi grinned and stepped inside, eyes wide.
On a workbench sat a silver coin, glowing blue on one side and orange on the other. "This coin has two faces," said Blip, "and only one will show when it stops. Watch closely." Kofi leaned in, chin on hands, waiting to see which color would land.
The coin landed with a soft clink. Blue side up! "That's one clear answer," Blip said. "But watch what happens the moment before it lands." Kofi's eyes narrowed. What could possibly happen in that split second before the coin decided?
