Ravi and the Cable Climber Cup

Ages 6–8

When Ravi's laser-powered climbing robot keeps slipping on the competition's smooth silver ribbon track, he must out-think friction itself to reach the top of the Cable Climber Cup.

Kids see that failure is just information: by testing wheels against the slippery ribbon and adjusting the laser's aim, Ravi discovers that grip and power together are the winning combo, and that real engineering means trying again.

The Cable Climber Cup buzzed with beeping robots and nervous grins. Ravi knelt beside a small crawler robot with sticky-treaded wheels, checking its glowing blue sensor-dot one more time. "Grip and go, Bramble - grip and go!" he whispered. Bramble's amber eyes blinked twice. Somewhere across the hall, a horn sounded. The climb was about to begin!

"Ready, Ravi?" called Vera, adjusting her glasses at the next station. "My climber's got new grip pads." Ravi grinned. "Mine's got laser power - no batteries needed!" Vera raised an eyebrow, impressed. He clipped his silver visor onto his headband, careful to keep it pushed up above his eyes, ready to aim the beam.

A judge lowered the ribbon track flat beside the starting line so every crawler could be placed just right. Ravi set the little robot at the bottom edge, its wheels resting against the ribbon - smooth silver, slick as ice. "Climb straight up when I say go," he told it softly. Bramble beeped a nervous little tune.
