Mei and the Great Canyon Rescue
Ages 6–8
When Mei's exploration rover vanishes into a silent zone deep in a Martian canyon, she must trust the math she programmed into it—wheel turns, tilt angles, and steady counting—to guide it home without a single satellite signal.
Kids learn that navigation isn't magic — careful counting, angles, and planning ahead can guide you home even when you can't see the way, and that trusting your own careful work takes courage.

"Pathfinder, report your position," Mei said into the wrist-tablet. Nothing but static crackled back. On the big dome screen, a tiny glowing dot froze at the edge of Wind Song Canyon — right where the maps went silent. "We've lost it," Milo whispered, wheels trembling. "Count the turns," Mei murmured. "Trust the tilt."
Dr. Voss's gloved hand rested on Mei's shoulder from behind, her face never turning into view. "You built Pathfinder's brain," she said. "You taught it to count its own wheel turns and feel its own tilt. Count the turns, Mei. Trust the tilt." She nodded slowly, remembering every line of code she had written.
"Odometry and gyroscope," Mei murmured, tapping the wrist-tablet awake. "Pathfinder counts its wheel spins to know how far it went, and its gyroscope feels every tilt and turn. Even blind, it can find its way — if the numbers are right." Milo counted along on his glowing fingers. "Count the turns! Trust the tilt!" he chirped happily.
