Hazel stepped into the forest, where the trees hummed a soft, strange song. She looked at her wooden compass. It pointed toward a bridge guarded by a path of numbered stones.

To cross the first path, Hazel had to step on the stones in order. One, two, three! She counted aloud. Each stone lit up as she touched it with her boot.

Suddenly, a friendly forest spirit appeared. It held a sign that said Hola! Hazel remembered that meant hello. She waved back and said, Hola, friend!
