The sun dipped low, painting the sky in shades of violet. Brielle found a dusty old paintbrush hidden beneath the roots of the giant oak tree in her backyard.

When Brielle brushed a dark shadow on the grass, something wonderful happened. The shadow didn't move away; it shivered and turned into a soft, glowing lantern.

The yard felt different now. It was no longer a place of dark corners, but a garden filled with floating, gentle light that chased the gloom away.
