High on the roof, the night was still, but the stars had dimmed away. Jack looked up at the empty sky, where the moon had gone to play. He saw a tiny, flickering spark fall gently to the grass.

The little star was shivering, its light was fading fast. Jack knelt down on the wooden floor and held his breath, aghast. He reached out with a gentle hand to help the tiny light, and offered it a cozy place to hide away from night.

I will make you a quilt, Jack whispered soft and low. A quilt of dreams and silver threads, to help you start to glow. He gathered up his sewing hoop and yarn of golden hue, and sat beneath the velvet sky as evening breezes blew.
