The Sea of Storms stretched grey and silent, dust hills rolling like frozen waves. "My scanner says something's down there," said Zosia, crouching by a cracked patch of ground. Orbie beeped. "Probability of hollow space: high." She grinned. "Then let's go find a moon cave."

She swept the scanner slowly across the dust. Green light bloomed and spread on its little screen, tracing a long, curving shadow underground. "That's not a crack," Zosia whispered. "That's a tunnel. A giant one." Orbie's eye widened. "Recalculating. This changes everything."

They followed the hidden curve across the plain until the ground opened into a dark, yawning skylight. Zosia crouched at the rim, heart thumping. "A lava tube," she said. "Made when old volcanoes flowed under here, millions of years ago." Orbie added, "And it never collapsed. Lucky us."
